I got up early this morning and washed my car by hand for the first time in a coons age. Yay for that. What I realize is that my car needs to be waxed like nobodys business. Maybe in a couple of weeks. The sun here is really destroying the paint job. Effin weak.
As to the title of the post, Ive been at work with a small redesign for a website since just before 10am, and now Im about to bust into reformatting a Macintosh for the first time in about 7 years. Last time I installed OSX, it was quite a chore to get it NOT to install in parallel with OS9 because Apple was happy NOT to have backwards compatability. At this point, I D.G.A.F. about backwards compatability, and Im ready to start individually assassinating each file on the old machine sitting in my room so I can put OSX.4 (Tiger) on the thing.
I managed to discover the secret for burning .dmg files under Windows enviornments (UltraISO does a dmg -> iso conversion that appears to be working, although its going to take 12 minutes to complete. dmg2iso.exe just consistently fails on my laptop. Given that it was written in perl, I wonder if its just because it wasnt designed to run on a machine that didnt suck ass. Whatever. Ill let you know how it goes, but generally, it feels really good to get some work done and to geek out doing computer shit for the first time in about a year.
Big news: were losing our apartment! Letters delivered yesterday quietly insist that we get out by March in return for the government-mandated minimum re-location fee. Well see. Ive got to talk to lawyers and maybe a city housing clerk. Ill keep you updated here.
