Okay, so my Centro has a broken screen. Im a big Centro supporter, but I cant see spending $120+ on another Centro (which doesnt work in Vista64, btw) only to have to re-up my contract and deal with all that. Ive been following the sweetness that is the HTC “Diamond” line (or whatever theyre calling the line of the Diamond, Pro and HD these days) and think Im sold on the Touch Pro. I held a non-working copy next to my Centro today and theyre friggin identical in size, which is cool and surprising, given the HTC Pros slide-y keyboard.
That said, Best Buy has it for $30 cheaper than Sprint does. The sad thing was that Im only eligible for a $75 rebate because Ive only had my Centro since October 18th or so of last year. Im supposedly eligible for the super-customer thing with Sprint, but I dunno how thatll work. Note that I said “was” up there, because I called Sprint this morning and they were nice enough to offer me the “extra” $75 as an incentive to stay with them rather than going to get a sweet-ass G1 or a cliche-but-still-sweet iPhone. So that brings the price sort of to within shouting distance.
Theres a rumor of a 20% off coupon floating around the web thatll knock another $60 off the price of the phone, too, so thatll help. From Best Buys $300 to $240 sounds good. If I can find a way to make it better, I will. I supposedly have some reward-zone gift certificates available, so Ill check those, too.
Hopefully youll soon see a picture of my new phone posted up right here. No more broken phones!
