Fuck You, Eagles!

I don't know why I continue to be a fan of this ridiculous, talentless, gutless, classless, shameless excuse for a football team.  I can tell you one thing: I'm not watching anymore.

The Eagles make me mad

I was all set to update, but then the Eagles played, and I just couldn't bring myself to do it.  Every single year we look at the team we're playing and tell ourselves that we can play just a little bit worse than they do.  God, I hate being an Eagles fan.  I hate that we're playing into the analysts' pre-written script of "oh, look how the Eagles can suck even with all that so-called talent that they went out and bought."  Whatever.

Anyway, I've been actually a little busy and a lot unmotivated.  Don't know why, but it's the truth.  I bought my ticket to the east coast the other day and I've been working with my new assistant Chris and I went to San Diego with Dave to work for a day or two and I've been trying to shoot for BRANDED (and failing).  The rhythm is actually slower than I'd like, so I'm trying to step it up, but even that is taking more time than I'd like.  Gotta step it up.

Happy Monday.

Second week football

Yesterday, the Eagles' win showed us a few important things about the Philadelphia Eagles team as a whole.  My main point of concern is both lines - we need our offensive line to stand up (no starting QB can take the kind of hits that Vick took yesterday, or both guys took last week) and our front four on D need to get pressure themselves.  Watching the kid from Cal run all over us that way really hurt. The defense was good for most of the 3rd and half of the 4th quarter, but we really needed more pressure and run-stopping.  Also, I'd like to point out that at 1-1 we're at -4 on points but tied (with like 8 other teams, but whatever) with 7 TDs.  That doesn't speak well of our defense.

This week is all about getting my ass in gear and prepped for S. America, and trying to get control of  the prompting work we have going on.  Wish me luck, because I have 5 days' work to do in 3.  Fun times!

Football is almost here!

Oh man.  The elation and the depression are almost on us.  Lots of eating out in the mornings, beers before noon and hoping to beat whatever bullshit team we're losing to that week.  I didn't see the entire game last night, but I liked what I saw, mostly.  Except that Kolb looks like Pacey.

Happy Saturday!

Anyone else worried about the Eagles?

I've watched some Eagles football this summer.  Everyone is only talking about Michael Vick (and who cares?) but I want to talk about the lines.  I feel like we've probably got the receiving corps that we've been wanting for years, but how on earth can we take advantage of the talent we have there (and still have at the Quarterback position, despite the fact that I was a complainer) when the line isn't healthy to start off the season.  I don't know if we have the line to keep the protection strong enough to allow for running lanes and passing lanes and time to get the ball moving forward.  Proving that I don't know very much about football, I'm concerned about the left tackle position overall.  Maybe it's the book about the homeless kid that Tampa Bay gave me to read, maybe it's watching little Mike Hart run off #1 draft pick Left Tackle Jake Long, but I'm concerned that we don't have a rockstar at that position.  Can Jason Peters get the job done?  Let's hope.

Also, what are we doing at tight end?  Are we really going to hold on to four QBs?  No, right?  Can the linebackers get it done?  I don't know if i have more questions and concerns this year because I've been paying closer attention, or if it's actually not shaping up to be a good season for us.  We'll see.  Go friggin' Eagles.
