Imported content from older iterations of the site. Mostly consisting of drivel along the type that you see on the frontpage, only written by a younger version of myself. Especially useful for winning arguments with me about where I was when or a time I said something unconditionally and then later changed my mind and forgot (conveniently). Fish-in-a-barrel easy make-fun-of-Matt material is here, too.

Announcing BrownieProject.com
Wednesday, 15 July 2009 02:30
I finally have a place for the Brownie Videos.
You can finally watch them. The page has been in soft-launch for awhile now, but this is the first open, public announcement Im making.
Right now, all six Brownie Videos online, along with some special footage and commentary. Id love to recruit readers of Clapboard to provide commentary (or Brownie videos of your own!), but first and foremost, Id like readers of Clapboard to go check out BrownieProject.com. Tell your friends, tell your enemies. Tell your frenemies. Twitter it, put it in your Facebook status, make your default video on MySpace a Brownie Video. Spread the word. This is the only way other people who arent us will see these silly videos, and the only way theyll be able to spend two minutes enjoying the fruit of the labor of a small-but-growing gang of kids who work for brownies.
I want to extend my thanks to everyone whos worked on a Brownie video in any capacity - you guys make the magic happen. Anyone who hasnt been in one yet is more than welcome (expected?) to be in one. I promise that Im getting better, even if you cant tell by seeing the end result.

Welcome to the weekend!
Saturday, 11 July 2009 03:41
Whats this? No holiday and no traveling? What am I going to do with myself?
I can tell you one thing - Im definitely going to relax. And do laundry. And work on my audio system. And tend my tomatoes. And drink wine. And finish "Jedi". And see a movie in the theatre. Its going to be epic.
Its Krols birthday today, and even though I dont really do "happy birthday" posts anymore, itd be silly to post here today and not wish one on him, right? I mean, the guy is finally 32. Hes twice as powerful as a 16-year-old, and thats pretty awesome. Enjoy it, Krol - next year you find out if youre Jesus.
The pic of the tomato here is here also to test my lightbox functions - if you click on it, youll be treated to the same image only larger in a lightbox right here. Amazing technology for a website thats "only" in its ninth year. Its almost time for a redesign, wouldnt you say? Ive been toying with ideas for a long time, but havent really done anything about it because im too dumb to do the coding myself and too poor (or disinclined, at any rate) to hire someone. I think its time to change my thinking on one of those things and either hire someone or smarten up. I dont want to lose everything, but I also dont want to be locked to this stalled software platform anymore.
Thats enough geeky talk. Time to go test my new audio setup and make sure everythings hooked up correctly. Then I get to spend hours programming my Harmony Remote. Woo! Ill be posting impressions soon.

My 4th of July Girls
Wednesday, 08 July 2009 23:53
the 4th was fun. Of course it was, what with squishing five girls into my car for the long drive to Hermosa Beach, where Tampa Bay hosted us on the beach and in his house.

The BBQ was tasty, Bootie was Red, White and Bluesy (where I provided the red with slight burns on my neck and lats) and Sunday was Sleepsy.
MJs Memorial yesterday was nice - I kinda like not hearing any commentary, not seeing any celebrities, and not knowing anything thats going on outside. It was a nice little insular moment for me and keeping the hoopla away made it feel that much nicer. Religious folks still creep me out, but I liked the coordinating yellows (how did people know, and why wasnt I notified?) and the heartfelt stories. Brooke Shields: "I was like, Whats with the glove?" Nice.
Of course, bigger picture after the jump.

Random Updates

Krol!
So it’s been awhile since I’ve updated, I know. I feel like a lot has been happening, but it’s very little to update about, really.
Okay, that’s not true, but I don’t know how to make it make sense, so I’ll just do my tried-and-true bullets for awhile.
- Mike came and went
It was awesome having Mike visiting, even for a short time. We kept busy doing things like rolling up TMNT characters like we had 20 years ago (geeky!) and drinking in bars talking about the states of our lives. We played a few videogames, hiked a few hills, saw a few waves and got stuck in a bit of traffic. Steve even came up for a few hours (because a few hours is all Steve can spend these days). It was rad.
- Spent the 4th on the beach
I went down to the beach with CJ, Lena, Rachel, Jo & Candace. I managed to get zero tickets (parking, traffic or drinking on the beach), have zero car trouble and get minimal sunburn (more like sunrash where a couple small places are pink and sensitive rather than red and hurty).
- I went to BootieLA
Bootie was low-key this month because of the Holiday, but it wasn’t bad. It was nice to have room to dance almost all night long. I know bodies=money in the club trade, but if they could make money with crowds this size, I’d be a happy camper.
- I booked MJ’s funeral
I found out when I got to the Staples Center this morning that the director had asked for me my name (supposedly) and that the crew guys I recognized were happy enough to see me that they smiled and said hi. That’s about as happy as crew guys get, in my experience. We bought a bunch more gear, but maybe not enough, as I have to do runs across the whole floor of the Center here. We’ll see. I wanted to buy more cable, but I don’t know that I can make it happen. We’ll see.
Okay, I’m off to try to proactively solve problems before they happen. This is the fun time of the show. When celebrities are hanging over my shoulder yelling changes at me, things’ll get less fun, I bet. We’ll see. I’ll post pics from the 4th in a few days – after this whole thing blows over. But yay for more work.

Mike is visiting!
Tuesday, 30 June 2009 22:09
Mikes finally here!
Its like a mid-week long weekend. Were hanging out in LA for a couple of days, which is fun. He arrived yesterday, and we went into Hollywood for awhile, then to the LaBrea Tar Pits. A weird night out last night was also fun, but it made me tired.
Today, were going hiking up in the hills and then down to the beach for awhile, but only after a nutritious breakfast at the Good Neighbor. So woot to that.
In other news, I have a question. Why cant developers come out with some system tools for the damn Pre? I want an FTP device of some sort, and a remote desktop app.
That is all for now. More later.
