Dragonfly

Dragonfly LogoOver 1000 updates from the Dragonfly database (the CMS that ran the site before I moved to Joomla).  Definitely expect some bugginess here, but the text is all here and searchable.  Woot to that.

What's slightly unbelievable is that it was the middle of 2009 before I moved off of Dragonfly.  For some reason (as I write this in the middle of 2011), it feels like I've been on Joomla forever.  Maybe that's a testament to the learning curve?  To the fact that I'm too enmeshed in version 1.5 after only 2 years to be able to move to 1.6 (or 1.7, now...)?  I don't know, but I do know that when I realized that I had started PCW before moving to Joomla my perspective on time shattered into a million pieces.

Back!

Ill have pictures soon, but I wanted to post and brag about being back in LA after a long absence.

Camping was awesome, Napa was awesome, BootieSF was awesome, I didnt die on either the all-night drive there (1am to 6am LA-Yosemite) or the all-night drive back (2am-8am SF-LA), so thats awesome, too.

The only un-awesome thing about my trip was that I let so many things go that today isnt really a vacation day, but a catch-up day so I can hit the ground running tomorrow. If I ignored you, Im sorry, and Ill get into the swing in no time - I promise.

Pictures soon.

Im home!

Okay, so I was technically home yesterday at 1am, which means Ive been home for something like 30 hours. The NYC portion of the trip was absurdly busy, but mostly fun (except for my mystery hangover on I think Saturday). I stole the picture above from Jon on FB, by the way.

For some reason, Im absurdly stressed right now - dont know whats gotten into me. It may be the short week into which Im packing so much stuff, it may be the mindset that Ive been working with - I dont know. Ive gotta figure it out, because the days keep coming and nothing bad is really happening, so I should just calm down.

Eh, at least Im going to Yosemite this weekend.

Hanging out in DC

Its Drews birthday, and Im chillin in his apartment, waiting for some files to upload so I can do another (a final??) migration test before releasing the newest version of ShoeHardware. Not an exciting present for Drew, but hes at work, so its probably okay. I think were going to lunch, so Ill do my best to be showered and presentable (ha!) by then, at least.

The flight was uneventful, and I managed to sleep from takeoff through about hour three, so that was cool. After that, I put on music and dozed. This part of the trip is the fun part, - NYC is going to be tough. I have a lot of work to do and not enough days to do it in, and its already stressing me out. At least I have a fun plan for Saturday night that is NOT work-related. So yay to that.

Bikini Hood

This is my favorite outfit in the world. maybe ever. You have to give it up for a bikini-hooded girl. This shot came from the absurd Fanny Pak shoe release party last night at Level3. Level3 turned out to be an 18-and-over club, which means that we were definitely sharing the dance floor with kids born in 1991. The year I went to high school. Maybe Im too old for clubs now? Pshaw.

Bigger pic and one more shot after the break.

Happy Friggin Earth Day!

Ironically, I just completed a long to do list that involves running an assload of errands. I should be not driving today, and yet here I am, planning to run around like a madman as soon as things open.

Maybe this Al-Gore-is-laughing-all-the-way-to-the-bank weather will break today, as its been hot as shit the last few days and its finally cooler out, but Im sort of doubting it. At least one of my stops is at Frys deep in the Valley. Go Fig.

Enough of this - have a great Earth Day. Try to drive less or something. Plant a tree.

notice something different?

No?

Thats okay. Its just that the last thing thats never changed since my y2k registration of clapboard.org has finally changed. Over the weekend, I ditched my lame registrars and moved clapboards registry officially over to GoDaddy. Theyre lame, too, but believe me when I tell you that theyre light-years less lame than the guys i used to be with.

That is all. I have no more domains with the old hosts - Im so proud of me.

my thumb is green!

So thats it. On the impetus of Casey & her family, I planted two tomatoes and a long-overdue orange tree yesterday. Well, with the Orange Tree, I more re-potted it. Its only about 3 feet tall, but it has flowers that smell amazing (isnt this a little late for flowers on a citrus?) and although I doubt itll fruit this year, I have some hope for next year. I think Ill have to move the tomatoes, though, because they arent getting full sun like they should, and even here in hot-ass LA, I think theyll need more than what theyre getting.

A slightly-larger version of this tree and a couple more pictures live after the break.
