Bathroom Moulding!

Bathroom MouldingI've been embroiled in a project to make my bathroom look less like a thing falling apart and more like a pleasant place to poop over the last week or so, and it's actually turned out pretty well.  Even though I'm not technically finished (I decided to also repaint the place a very pale blue), I'm happy with where I've gotten and I'm glad I did it.

After the break there are a few pictures of the project, and I'll update/add a couple more when I've gotten the painting finished.

New Workbench

My BenchHere are some pictures of the bench that I just built in the garage. Along with the green screen and the Promptin' Cart, I've just about finished the re-vamp of the garage that I've been planning for like a year.  Go me.

Click below for pictures.

Gavrieli to the rescue!

When you need plexiglass in LA and you don't drive a full-size truck, you're going to have some trouble.  There are places that will deliver to businesses and there are places that will deliver for any order of $250 or more, but there aren't any places that deliver a single piece (or even two pieces) of plexiglass.

Until Gavrieli Plastics.  I'm withholding full judgement until the delivery is complete, but their plexi prices were competitive and the delivery charge was high (at $60!), but not as high as a place that quoted me "$90 or so" when I asked if there were any non-commercial options.

Anyway, in case you were interested in how I (re-)found Gavreli, I searched Clapboard.  Honestly.  I had exhausted fuckin' Google searching for things like "plexiglass 90068" and "plexiglass San Fernando Valley" - it was a full-on Google fail.  But here we are.  I had to look in the code because the old site wasn't translated exactly perfectly (an href had somehow become a comment...), but that's okay - there was a telltale gap in the story (that I'm going to restore RIGHT NOW) and I checked the code and bang.  Gold.

That is all for now.  Plexi on Monday.  More code right now, then cooking later.  Fun fuckin' times.  Thanksgiving is coming and that table won't collage itself.

Building Spree!

UPDATE: Gallery of the first part of the process is now after the break.

It's not 100% accurate to call it a "spree," but considering how little I've done in the past few months, two shelves are a real start.

At the end of last week, I built the Tim Stormer Memorial Shelf for the garage, aiming at getting his stuff into a place where it actually had somewhere to be (rather than on the floor), and that was a roaring success.  Yesterday afternoon, I reinforced the "back" desk and last night I put together a nice little hutch for atop that desk.  It's actually quite a nice piece.  It's still un-stained, but that's what this afternoon is for.

Also for this afternoon, I've been taking things out of my office (an absurdly difficult task, actually) and cleaning the dirtier things as I move them (how the laser printer is still working is beyond me). I'm going to install a ceiling fan this afternoon, too.  If I'm really lucky, I'll get the fan installed, the hutch stained AND the desk moved into place, all before tonight.  We'll see, though.  I don't want to be overzealous. you know.   I need a new rug in here, too.  Maybe.

Fun times. And I swear I have pictures to put up, but I'm in the building zone, man - the ZONE.
