I need a "work travel" section, it would appear.
Anyway, I'm home in LA, trying to get caught up on the things I've got to do (I'm looking at you, NetTheory) and cleaned up for the weekend, which promises to be a whirlwind of packing, running around, ridiculous drinking and other debaucherous stuff.
I only took product photos while I was in NYC, so I have nothing to show you (wait, that's a lie! See the photo rotator for a shot I took!), but I'll be better about that for the next update. Branded shoots have been happening, actually, so that's good!

Here in the Cahuenga Pass, it's traditional gender role reversal week!
For example, I've spent much of the day baking, or preparing to bake (or cleaning up from baking) a few loaves of bread. I also did laundry and went grocery shopping. I'll fold and put away that same laundry later tonight, but in the meanwhile, I'm snacking and sipping a glass of wine. I tried to watch football, but Time Warner Cable sucks a huge cock and can't get me a clean, watchable signal, so I gave up after a few minutes of digital artifacting.
I'm getting psyched for Thanksgiving, but wondering if I'm cooking enough stuff. The menu seems strangely anemic for some reason. Maybe because I'm kind of getting used to the preparation process? I mean, it's really only about 6 dishes, which doesn't seem like a lot for 22 people. Also, I bought significantly less turkey this year and I'm nervous that I didn't buy enough. Last year, I bought more than 30 lbs of turkey for what turned out to be 25 people. This year, I'm at 24lbs for 20-22. Hmm. I know it says a pound per person, but I bought SO MUCH more last year.... Ah well. No second guessing now, I guess. Maybe I should make a ham, too.
Kidding, mostly.

It's certainly not because I don't sit in front of the computer these days, but I'm not blogging for some reason, and the best way I can think to get to the bottom of it is to blog about it.
I've thought about writing. I've thought about clapboard (I'm going to redesign/upgrade sometime soon). I don't know why I haven't gotten around to writing anything, but there are a few factors that I'm considering that, summed, probably answer this pressing question.
Because I'm working on making the home page less of a text dump and more of a cornucopia of things that interest me, I'm going to put the reasoning after the break. It also makes scanning through for the interesting nuggets easier.

The internet is out at the office, so what do I do?
Write a blog post!
Thanksgiving came and went with nary a mention (Happy Thanksgiving!), and Scott & Sharon spent the weekend (with Drew & April spending a couple of days as well), also with nary a mention. It was awesome having them all in town, and reminded me why I like having friends and knowing people.
Now I'm in New York, where it's in the 50's and cloudy, but at least they have Dunkin Donuts. I forgot to get one yesterday until I was walking home from the office sometime after 8, but it was still tasty. Might have to go get another this afternoon. I'm here for a couple more days yet, but if the internet doesn't come back soon, I may just change my flight and go home because I'm way too tired to not be working.

It's become that time of year! Tomorrow I print out my Thanksgiving document, close the guest list and buy the food. It's mind-numbing how much work there is to do between now and Thursday next, but I'll manage it like I did last year and the many years prior. Servingware will come out of the disgustingly-messy garage (the servingware is well-packed and protected, don't worry), food will be bought, tables will go up for final touches and cleaning, applesauce and breads will get made and chairs will get rented.
I'm going to try to do another BRANDED shoot or two and maybe even do something fun over the next few days to offset the ridiculous absurdity of spending five days prepping for a five-hour event. At least it's fun.

If you buy a red 4-cylinder soft top Jeep, I want to recommend that you don't plan to drive it across the country with a white Honda Rebel 250 on a carrier attached to the trailer hitch. If you are going to do all that, I'd recommend not filling it up with crap and having a bum fuel or electrical system.
It's quite a bit of work to get across Oklahoma and North out of Texas without getting practically blown off the road, first of all. That was maybe the hardest day of driving I'd ever done, honestly. Since it was my second day on the road, I was already tired, too, which didn't make the day any easier.
On the first day of the trip I had some problems with either the electrical system or the fuel pump that resulted in stalling when the road was bumpy, which was nearly all the time. Reseating the wires on the distributor cap and the spark plugs seemed to help during the windy day, which was a small blessing, but the stalling came back in the evening and intermittently throughout the other two days of the trip.
I wore earplugs for four straight days, which actually made the noise bearable, but also made my ear canals swell. I felt like a bit of a fool hopping in my jeep and then smooshing earplugs into my ears, but man, was it worth it. Next time I drive across the country, I'm going to do it west-to-east. And with another person. Without earplugs.
After the break I've stuck a ridiculously-large version of the map above. It totally borks the layout, though, so be forewarned.
