Hey there!
It's the Christmas season. Dinner for 24 was great, and now it's time to move into Christmas time prep full-time. I have yet to buy tickets home, but that'll happen this week. I have no idea whether I'm going to NYC yet, but I'm doubting it somehow. Just not seeming like it's in the cards for this holiday season.
Non-Thanksgiving-related weekend highlights:
- Watched the RNRHOF concerts last night on HBO at Joel's house, and among the attendees were Charlie from the Counting Crows and Tal who's on bass for Jeff Beck. She didn't accept my friend request on Fb, though.
- took a couple of pics for my tattoo book this weekend - go me. I really like taking pictures. Time to schedule another shoot or two.
- started building my workbench. i indend to finish today and start on the Prompter area organizer. I'll get the garage done if it kills me.
That's it for now. I really have to do pictures today, too. Effin' pictures.
edit: A couple of CNN Heroes pix after the break.

Yay!
I'm cooking for 24, and I'm nervous! Two turkeys at a time in the oven might affect its cooking time, which could be problematic. I'm not sure how I'll fit everything that needs to cook before and after the turkey is cooking... I need to get my shit together and come up with a plan, man, a plan.
Anyway, today is all logistics, putting tables together, setting places, finding the right balance of crazy and not-crazy.... I'm not even sure I have enough silverware. Jeez.
Anyway, I wish all of you guys were coming here, too, although I don't know where you'd sit, honestly. Fun times. Keep your fingers crossed that I can get set up and then cleaned up without going too insane, and that things go generally well.
Happy Thanksgiving. See you on the other side.

In case any of you were wondering why Clapboard no longer loads like the tubes from the servers are steeped in syrup, it's because we're finally on a VPS. My load times dropped from an average of 8 to an average of, well, right now, zero. Pretty exciting. If I can do it without too much drama, I'm going to stick with it. I know that I might be better off with something yet more geeky, but I think this is just about as serverific as I can get at the moment. I have a testing box that I'll work with for awhile so that maybe I'm ready when and if I have to move to something bigger and better. If anyone wants to give me Linux Administration for Web Server Admins lessons, I'd be happy to learn.
I should probably keep a list of things like this that I would like to take classes in. The times are frequent these days where I'm like "Oh, I could take a class in that and be a whole lot more useful than I currently am....
A couple of asides, while I've got you:
- I can't believe I've been too busy to work with Google Wave
- or to buy and play Asssassin's Creed 2.
- I haven't shot on my green screen yet, but I DO have a plan to.
- but I want a new light kit now.
- Thanksgiving is already almost here and I'm a little freaked out.
- The picture above is from the collage (whose plexi cost me $120). This piece is called Action Cupcake.
That's it for now, but I'll be back with pictures and more notes on things like making applesauce.

When you need plexiglass in LA and you don't drive a full-size truck, you're going to have some trouble. There are places that will deliver to businesses and there are places that will deliver for any order of $250 or more, but there aren't any places that deliver a single piece (or even two pieces) of plexiglass.
Until Gavrieli Plastics. I'm withholding full judgement until the delivery is complete, but their plexi prices were competitive and the delivery charge was high (at $60!), but not as high as a place that quoted me "$90 or so" when I asked if there were any non-commercial options.
Anyway, in case you were interested in how I (re-)found Gavreli, I searched Clapboard. Honestly. I had exhausted fuckin' Google searching for things like "plexiglass 90068" and "plexiglass San Fernando Valley" - it was a full-on Google fail. But here we are. I had to look in the code because the old site wasn't translated exactly perfectly (an href had somehow become a comment...), but that's okay - there was a telltale gap in the story (that I'm going to restore RIGHT NOW) and I checked the code and bang. Gold.
That is all for now. Plexi on Monday. More code right now, then cooking later. Fun fuckin' times. Thanksgiving is coming and that table won't collage itself.

Yesterday, I did a short prompting gig with Natalie Cole - this music prompting thing is kinda cool. I got to hear Natalie perform "Unforgettable" live (although she wasn't singing full-out, because it was to tracks), which was fun. Then I came home and wrote code for the better part of six hours. I've been watching Star Treks to keep me from going stir crazy, but even they aren't doing it 100%.
I've been working on three websites at the same time these days, which can get hectic, but has the benefit of providing me with an ever-changing cornucopia of code and nerd choices to make. Otherwise, it's been a pretty uneventful few days. I'm already nervous about Thanksgiving - how am I going to have everything ready in a mere week? You can bet I'll be spending afternoons making food pretty much from now till next Thursday. At least Applesauce.
Right now, the number stands at 24 and I don't think I can handle any more. That's already pretty crazy, but it'll have to do. I think on my list for tomorrow is going to Home Depot and buying some of the crap I need, as well as one thing I sorely want. I'll update as I know more.

Stressful day on the tech front as I update the ShoeHardware.com website and hope it all goes according to plan.
I finished my green screen, too, which is pretty rad. I'll post pictures below the jump.
Now I'm working on ilpunali (again, I know) and hoping that we're going to be ready to go in mere days, rather than in, oh, never? This thing, while awesome in theory, has become a nightmare in practice. I'm a little past frustrated with this thing, and I'm ready to see some sales. I'm gunshy, of course, because I sent out 1000 emails last time and ended up looking like a fool in front of all those people. This time, we're going to soft-launch and take things as they go. At least, I am.
I also bought a Pelican Case yesterday to fit our Presidentials setup, which is good, because we booked a new gig for Tuesday. Fun times. Pictures of that, too, below the jump.
